Ceramist since 1970, he was trained by Mr and Mrs Pierlot at Ratilly; then he studied under Mr and Mrs Lerat at the schoole of Fine Arts in Bourges, where he was Senior lecturer.
He opened his first own studio in 1978, the in 1987, he settled down at La Borne
d’Henrichemont.
His first meeting with Francis Cat-Berro led to the creation of furniture combining wood, ceramics and metal.
In 2000, Yves-Marie Dumortier settled down at Bunus, in the Basque County.
at present time, in the Cat-Berro Gallery: a display of a collection of unique ceramic items.
